Language Arts:
In January we will continue reading stories in Unit 3 where the theme is "Look Again". We will then move on to Unit 4: Fossils. We will make the transition from informative/expository writing into narrative writing. This month we will be writing a fun story about being trapped in a snow globe! We will be working on suffixes and plurals.
Math:
We will start off the new year with Chapter 7: Subtract 3-Digit Numbers. We plan to take the Chapter 7 assessment the week of January 19th. From there we will move on to Chapter 8: Money.
Social Studies/Science:
For Social Studies, we will continue learning about producers and consumers.
We will then begin a new unit in Science where we will learn about rocks, soils, and fossils.
Reminders/Announcements:
-We will return back to school on Monday, January 5th.
-No school on Friday, January 9th.
-No school on Monday, January 19th -Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday observed.
-Students will no longer be writing 5 spelling sentences for homework. Now they will be writing a paragraph using at least 5 spelling words. The paragraph needs to stay on topic!
