Here is a glimpse of what we have planned for the month of October!
Language Arts:
We will continue with Unit 2: Kindness. We will be working on using commas in a series. We will also work on capitalizing at the beginning of sentences, for proper nouns, and in titles and initials. We will be using spelling lists 2.2 through 2.6 where much of the focus will be on short vowels. For writing, we will be working on the parts of a paragraph: Topic sentence, transitions and details, and conclusion. We will write a Halloween/pumpkin themed paragraph too!
Math:
We will begin Chapter 3: Add two-digit numbers. We plan on taking the Chapter 3 test the week of October 13th. We will then begin Chapter 4: Subtract two-digit numbers. Please remember that we send classwork home weekly for you to review. This can also be used as an aid for homework the following week! Also, if you look in your child's homework folder, you will see that there is a letter and sign in information about our My Math curriculum. There is so much your child will be able to access online!
Health:
We will begin our Health Unit: Too Good For Drugs. This will highlight healthy choices including tobacco and bully education.
Science:
We will begin Unit D, Chapter 8-Making Sound the week of October 20th!
